Our History

Ohlin & Higgins was formed in 1968 in Akron, Ohio by John T. Ohlin and Roger G. Higgins. Since its formation, the firm has been responsible for the design and construction of projects in nineteen states with a wide diversity of building types, usage and complexities.

In 1985, Ohlin & Higgins was honored by the Prestressed Concrete Institute for excellence in engineering design for the Robert L. Millender Center located in Detroit, Michigan.

In 2001, Ohlin, Higgins & Reed, LLC was formed with the addition of John P. Reed from the firm J.P. Reed Associates, Inc and in 2005 became Ohlin & Reed Consulting Engineers, Inc.

The firm has provided structural engineering services for numerous architectural firms in the Akron area on a continuous basis for over 40 years and nearly all of our new business comes from either referrals or repeat clients.
